A young ESF instructor from the Méribel Valley, Thomas, 32, deaf from birth, has requested the help of the Société des Trois Vallées, as he did last season, to train before his participation in the World Deaf Championship which will take place in Jasna in Slovakia from January 6 to 14, 2025.
a will that goes beyond the handicap
Just like last winter, Thomas is taking advantage of his "VIP" access to the Combes chairlift to continue his intense training, which we hope will allow him to win medals again this year in the upcoming competitions! A look back at an extraordinary journey…
He joined the French disabled sports team, in the "Deaf" section. He has a total of 14 international medals and can be proud of his participation in 3 Olympics, including one with torn cruciate ligaments!
Although he has found his path and is fully dedicated to it, he nevertheless deplores shortcomings at the federation level: almost non-existent supervision, no funding and recognition that he no longer expects. So he has to take on the financial burden alone and he is his own physical trainer! He has no pressure, his only motivation is sport, since he does not earn any income from his podiums.
He is very grateful to the management and staff of the Société des Trois Vallées and he intends to return from these world championships with the only colour missing from his list of achievements: gold!
We wish him success in the challenge and congratulate him for his courage, his state of mind and his humility.
