Our wish is to optimize our cohabitation with local farmers, and to facilitate interactions during the implementation of our projects. Today, 4 mountain pastures approved by the town hall are located in the Courchevel area and 1 in the Mottaret ski area.
Creation of watering points
In Méribel-Mottaret, the ski area has tapped into the snow network in order to create a watering point for the cattle herder at the lower station of the Bouquetin chairlift. In addition, 2 access points to water points (springs) have been reopened.
In Courchevel, on the Tania alpine pasture, and as part of the work related to the Eclipse slope, 5 watering troughs distributed over 1,5 km of pipe network intended for agropastoral activity were created in 2020. On the Pralong alpine pasture, a watering point was created at the 4th station of the "Jardin Alpin" gondola lift and another near the top station of the Biollay chairlift.
In general, these actions allow for the enhancement of alpine pastures through investment in water networks for watering cattle. They allow
- byirrigate the meadows in times of drought;
- de ensure the maintenance or even increase the presence of the cattle herd at altitude and therefore reduce the risk of abandoning the mountain pasture;
- byensure good production conditions by saving time and energy to raise the water each day, and therefore ensures a better quality of milk for the production of Beaufort at altitude.
Consultation and SHARING OF SITES
The richness of our mountain territory is closely linked to the differentiation of the seasons and the activities carried out there and coexisting there.
For this reason, All summer projects are subject to prior consultation with farmers in order to avoid any untimely disruption to their activity. A meeting between the ski area operating staff and the farmers operating on the ski area is organized in the spring to take stock of the various S3V projects in order to limit their effects. Furthermore, if the projects are of common interest, they are pooled to optimize work and reduce costs (example with a fiber optic drawing site shared with a site for installing a water network for watering livestock).
Soil study
As part of the Eclipse runway project, a soil study in partnership with INRAE was launched in 2021 to optimize revegetation and forage quality on land disturbed by runway construction. The results of this study are expected in 2025.
